Obituary for Doris Helen Kensmoe

Doris Helen Gunem Kensmoe, 101, passed away at her home on June 12, 2019. She was born May 5, 1918 to Carl and Hannah (Bergerson) Gunem on the family farm in Bruce Valley, Town of Hale, near Strum, WI.

Doris moved to Chicago and worked in a Candy Factory before moving to California. She married Donald Kensmoe on March 25, 1944 in San Diego, CA. In 1950 the couple moved to Albuquerque, NM and to Salt Lake City, UT in 1960 where Doris managed a motel for 12 years. They relocated to Osseo, WI in 1972. Doris delivered Meals on Wheels for 15 years. Donald preceded her in death March 20, 1991.

Doris is survived by her three children: Gary of Osseo, WI, Sharon of Spokane, WA, and Clair of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Caleb, Josh, Jaynelle, Emily and Katie; plus eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gladys and Myrtle; and five brothers, Harvey, Vern, Donald, Carroll & Ernest.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Bruce Valley Lutheran Church in rural Strum, Wisconsin. Burial will take place at Bruce Valley Lutheran Cemetery in rural, Strum.

Schiefelbein Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
